The Minister of Education, Mr. Semere Russom, said that relentless efforts are being made to expand educational opportunities in all part of the country, besides nurturing competent teachers.

In a meeting he held in Keren with the heads of the Ministry’s branch offices in Anseba region, Mr. Semere gave briefings on the tasks accomplished and the challenges encountered in expanding educational opportunities, as well as future prospects and the effectives of the teaching-learning process.

Noting that a number of countries with limited natural resources have reached higher development stage as they registered major achievement in the education sector, he pointed out that the Eritrean government is making substantial investment in the sector with a view to building a prosperous and developed nation in which the youth respect and uphold the country’s cherished values and traditions.

The Minister further stated that concerted action is being taken to upgrade the quality of education and promote the innovative skill of nationals. To this end, he called on all government institutions to work in a coordinated manner. All branch heads of the Ministry’s should also strive in nurturing competent sportsman and women, as schools are the main source of such potentials, Ms. Semere added.
